INTRODUCTION

mScarlet-I is a new type of red fluorescent protein. It is engineered based on the amino acid sequence analysis of red fluorescent protein and purple fluorescent protein, and involved site orientation and random mutagenesis. mScarlet-I shows prolonged fluorescence life, enhanced light stability, increased quantum yield, and improved chromophore maturity. The excitation and emission maxima of mScarlet-I are 569nm and 593nm, respectively.
